About us
La Carla Atelier consists of an artistic family team who started this exciting venture after falling in love with romantic Venice. While roaming its alleys for gifts, Carla discovered a mask shop and was blown away by their beauty. The irresistible love began for these exceptional masks. Back in South Africa, Carla started this venture along with her daughter Charnelle, who where both eager to switch on their inspiration.
These exquisitely designed, hand crafted Venetian masks are primarily used for flamboyant balls, carnival events, theme parties, corporate events and functions but are also admirably employed as an art piece or as a decorative approach to interior decorating.

Mask galleries
The most popular masks can be viewed and ordered on our Web Gallery which is updated regularly. All masks are supplied with ribbon. At our Studio Gallery in Pretoria, South Africa, an additional 400 unique designs are displayed, each one skilfully symphonised with an array of colours.
When selecting your favourite art piece, keep in mind the colour in which you want it designed when placing your order. All masks are hand made from papier mâché and decorated individually, with natural materials, gems, gold leaf, beads, paper etc. There are no exact duplicates. Each one has an individual code and is recorded on a photo gallery.
Design your own mask
You can specify whether you would like the mask to be held in place with ribbon, stick or alice band, to fit on your forehead. An additional R50 fee will be charged for the make up of a mask you personally designed.
Community upliftment
We are part of community upliftment projects, training and supplying the paper, glue and moulds, then buying back the paper base. These include Refilwe community upliftment (Johannesburg) and Sheriat upliftment project (Pretoria).
We have confidence that you will enjoy our masks as much as we enjoyed designing them.
